We have four shirts packaged and ready to go, but no address. Sometimes when you order on paypal we don’t get your address if you don’t type it in. Also someone ordered one at a SPUR concert and I only have half of his address (Zach). So, if these are you, would you please email me your address. Thanks. jamie at spur58 dot com

as you may know, we’re in the process of adopting Dowensky from Haiti. (savingdowensky.com). so many of you have been so generous in purchasing shirts and donating money to Dowensky’s fund…thank you! all of this money plus any future money for Dowensky will now go towards adopting TWO CHILDREN from the rescue center in Haiti!

we just decided to adopt another child from the same rescue center in Haiti. here’s a photo of the beautiful little girl we’re adopting!! we felt like the timing and opportunity was right to go ahead and adopt two Haitian children into our family. we felt like we would adopt again from Haiti at some point in the future, but was we looked at it closer it was apparent the timing was right to adopt this girl as well as Dowensky. they are not related.. however, Margda is the sister of Licia’s son that was adopted from Haiti. Carmelo is so thrilled that his 1/2 biological sister is now going to have a home and family.

here she is!!

my heart is in Haiti tonight …

November 9, 2007 at 11:37 am | In Amos Dowensky, Haiti, adoption | 2 Comments

Tonight my heart was in Haiti. I walked outside to take Carson out and looked up in the cool crisp air to see stars all above me. I love to look up and see stars. I looked up and at that moment I got emotional. I started to think of our sweet Amos in Haiti. I wondered if he was cold, then I remembered that he lives in Haiti. I wondered if he had fun today with his friends. I wondered what him and Clebert and Jonah did today. I wondered if he was able to eat three meals today. I wondered if he ever thinks about the people in the pictures he has. I wondered if deep down he was thinking of me too. I wondered and wondered about him.

Sometimes I feel as though this adoption process is going so slow. I think it is because every time I sit down at my desk to do anything I look into the eyes of this beautiful Haitian boy. His pictures are taped on my wall right in front of my desk and above my computer. As I work diligently on our dossier he is watching me. He is my inspiration to keep moving.

Tonight I sat down and wanted to figure out just where we are in this whole game of dossier paper work. Once again if you aren’t involved in a Haitian adoption or never have been involved in one this will bore you to death, so just skip to the bottom of this post. Here is what we are looking at now:
* Affidavite of Vaccination - TOTALLY DONE
* Birth certificates - I have all four - need to make copies, translate, state certify and Haitian authenticate Aaron’s
* Child Escort - TOTALLY DONE
* G28 - frustrated tonight b/c I know I have filled this out and had notarized and now can’t find it - I’ll look more tomorrow and may have to redo it - not a big deal if i do though
* Home Study - I have the original in hand now just need to make copies, translate to French, state certify and Haitian Authenticate it
* ID photos - still need to do - waiting on that good hair day!
* I864 - need to do & dreading it - this form scares me
* Letter of employment Jamie - got it - just need to make copies, translate to french and state certify
* Letter of employment Aaron - need to get this
* Letter of request - got it - need to copy it, translate it, notarize, state certify and authenticate
* marriage certificate - got it - need to copy it, translate it, and state certify it
* medical evaluations - got them - we’re healthy and free of any disease - need to copy them, translate them, state certify them and authenticate aaron’s
* police reports - got them - need to copy them, translate them, state certify them and authenticate aaron’s
* power of attorney - need to state certify and authenticate
* procuration - need to state certify and authenicate
* proxy - DONE
* Psychology evaluations - we have meet once with the doctor and go back next week for our final evaluation
* reference letters - got them all! - need to copy, translate, certify them all and authenticate one of them

So, for the most part we are down to translating, state certifying, making copies and getting stuff Haitian authenticated.

Anyone around me have any good advice for these last few steps?

Anyone that has been down this road have an estimate of how much longer we’re looking at. It will be crazy with the holiday’s coming up too with all of our travels.

I want this down and out of here by Christmas. It keeps looking like it won’t make it, but I am trying to be positive. ON a good note, it is only 60 days until I meet our Amos for the first time.

I must go to bed now. 2 AM and my kids will be up by 7 ready to go! Enough work tonight. Must sleep.

This video was on Licia’s blog tonight. I am of course crying for this sweet boy and for the people that deal with this day in and day out. The people in this ministry give so much of their life. If you are thinking of giving money away each month to an organization, this might be a good one for you.
